Results impossible upload?

#1 Ungelesener Beitrag von Lem » 11.04.2011 20:19

Hi!

Since this afternoon I haven't been able to complete the upload of these two big files (about 30 and 20MB):

Temporarily failed upload of cms_GA-p[FZ-Lin64s]_19_Fibrobacter-succinogenes-subsp.-succinogenes-S85_CP001792.cir.EMBL_1301546523_2661_5_0: HTTP error

Temporarily failed upload of cms_GA-p[FZ-Lin64s]_25_Fibrobacter-succinogenes-subsp.-succinogenes-S85_CP001792.cir.EMBL_1301546523_2714_6_0: HTTP error

On the contrary, here the server looks running well: http://www.rnaworld.de/rnaworld/server_status.php

Something to write home about? ;)
Bye.

#2 Ungelesener Beitrag von Lem » 11.04.2011 21:21

I've just uploaded cms_GA-p[HZ-Lin64s]_14_Helicobacter-pylori-HPAG1_CP000241.cir.EMBL_1302069423_27564_1_1, so the problem is related to the above workunits.

What to do? TIA.

Bye.

There was a temporarily problem with the allowed upload size which has been solved.
If you still experience any problems, feel free to let us know.

Now I have one more wu result partially uploaded that does not resume. The third one is just 3,46MB long.

Uhmm... may be the problem hasn't been actually solved.

If you need more info, please let me know.
Thank you and bye.

Sorry for the late reply. There seems to be some sort of problem with certain kinds of clients.

Could you please post your Boinc client version and OS?

Now I have four results the upload of which cannot be resumed.

Last one:

Code: Alles auswählen

[RNA World] Temporarily failed upload of cms_GA-p[LZ-Lin64s]_12_Lactococcus-lactis-subsp.-lactis-Il1403_AE005176.cir.EMBL_1302243723_36714_1_0: HTTP error

And now the're five.

Come on... I can't be the only one. This thing has to be fixed.

BTW: I tried to attach the output of:

tshark -i wlan0 -f "host 78.46.16.148" -w /tmp/shark

but it looks like there's no chance to upload even a small 18KB attachment here. Nonsense.

Please let me know if there's something I can do.
Bye.

The forum seems to do a lot of checks on uploaded files. Maximum size is 256 KB, and only certain extensions are allowed. You can either zip your file, paste the code directly to the forum or use things like nopaste

Regarding the http error, my hosts are working and I have no idea what the problem could be...

Thank you for the info. :)

I'm posting an attachment whose name is shark.zip.
In the zipped file are sniffed all the packets to and from the RNA server: two files try to resume the upload (each file uses a port: 43454 and 43455).
The file should be seen using Wireshark.

HTH.
Bye.

Hm, duplicate ACKs in TCP and attempts to retransmit data. I still don't have a clue.... Perhaps one if the two tcp-stacks uses a hack/setting/optimisation that the other one doesn't understand, or there's a problem between the two hosts (perhaps your router?). Just guessing, though.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. :)

The fact is that I upload tons of RNA results with no problems at all.

If, and only if, the upload happens to break for whatever reason, then it can never be resumed. So I'm pretty sure the problem is just there, in the resuming activity.
BTW: could anyone try it? Disconnect throughout an upload, then reconnect and try to resume.

However only RNA shows this odd behaviour: no other boinc projects I'm involved in do. So I guess it's more likely to be a RNA server "misconfiguration". Which shouldn't be too hard to investigate, I hope.

I say: it's not about me. We're not talking about credits, or rather silly stuff. We're talking about results: we leave our pc running 100% load to get such results, and electricity isn't free. The project itself exists to get these results. I'm a bit disappointed, to be honest.

Bye.
